How will you keep my loved one safe?

We are committed to keeping all residents safe. All staff are DBS checked and trained in the use of specialist equipment. The Home is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and each resident has an assistance bell that can be used at any time to call a caregiver. The Home is regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission with reports of our service being available.

What activity programmes do you offer?

The activities organiser/resident support worker is here 5 days a week. Residents can choose to engage with a group activity late morning which include exercise, quizzes, snakes and ladders or bingo. The activities organiser also visits residents in their rooms to chat on a one to one basis. There are musical entertainments and religious services from time to time. Visits from representatives of religious denominations are welcomed and can be arranged by the home if required.

What will the food and mealtimes be like?

All residents are offered a choice of meals that can be eaten in the dining room, the lounge or in a resident’s room. Meals are well balanced and cater for various diets including gluten-free, diabetic and vegetarian. All meals are served in accordance with medical requirements. Meals tend to be at the same time every day but snacks and drinks are always available.

How much will my care cost?

Fees at Sandown Nursing Home start from £1175 per week. Respite care costs £1300 per week due to the additional administration associated with a short visit. For any specific questions about funding or fees please contact the admin office on 01983 408574.
